PHASE ONE (1)
COMPETITION
The first of the three phase project is a competition for artists,
graphic designers to come up with an acceptable personality called
Kwaku Ananse.
The competition also seeks to bring out the best in our artists and
painters.
The Kwaku Ananse competition is open to all artists in Ghana. Entry
will be based on the following:
Artworks may be in any painting media like Oils, Acrylics, Gouache
Poster, Encaustic, Enamels etc. Graphic
presentation in black and white is acceptable.
o Artists should concoct or create the image of Ananse in both face
and body.
o Size of painting should not exceed 36 inches on any of the four
sides.
o Postures should reflect Ananse’s varied attributes e.g.
Wits, Antics, etc.
PARTICIPATION

Competition is open to all artists, painters and graphic designers.

SELECTION
PANEL
A panel of experts would be in charge of selecting the winning entry.
COPYRIGHT
Any entry submitted in the competition would be entered in the exhibition
after which they would be returned to the artists if they so wish.
PRIZES
First prize $1000 plus a Two way ticket to the arts festival in
Bonn, Germany.
The next five best entries will win consolation prizes of five million
cedis (5,000,000.00) each.
POST
COMPETITION PROGRAMME
After a successful competition, a series of related Programmes would
be undertaken.
1.
Exhibition
This will be done to showcase all the entries submitted.
2.
National Launch
After our ANANSE has been accepted, a launch would be organized
to formally introduce ANANSE to Ghana. This would be done to set
agenda for easy identification and acceptability.
3. Publicity
ANANSE post cards, T-Shirts, Key Rings, Drip Mats,etc would be produced
and sold as souvenir. A signature magazine will be introduced and
write ups from various correspondents used.
4. Radio
Discussions on radio stations will be carried out to further allow
Ghanaians the opportunity to share in this national project.
5. Website
A website is being created for Ananse where stories and strips will
be posted as further publicity.
SPONSORSHIP
Organizations that sponsor this programme become partners, not just
sponsors. They would be given full exposure in the media. Sponsors
would be appropriately acknowledged.
Logos of sponsors would appear on banners, backdrops, press ads
and write-ups.
They would be actively involved in the execution of the project,
and would be mentioned in all radio and television programmes.

or companies that contribute ¢35,000,000.00 (Thirty Five Million
Cedis) or more fall under this category. They are entitled to the

Bronze
This
category of sponsors should be able to contribute a minimum of
15 million cedis plus services.
They are entitled to the following benefits;

4.
’KWAKU ANANSE’ special Award
In this category, sponsors would be required to provide services
and cash worth 100 million cedis or more. They get to be automatic
participants in all phases of the Ananse project from start to finish
making them full partners. This attracts benefits similar to the
gold sponsorship package with the following added benefits;
First title to the use of Kwaku Ananse image for one year.
Full ads from beginning to end of project.
Automatic renewal of sponsorship for all phases of project.
Logo on documentaries and reality shows.

PHASE
TWO (2)
After a successful execution of Phase One (1), another competition
will be organized for sculptors to produce Ananse in the various
moulds: wood, bronze, stone, etc. This would enable the accepted
face of Ananse to be “immortalised”.
Other family members of Ananse would be recreated: Okonor Yaa, Ntikuma,
Nankonhwia, Ti kenenkenen, Efuru dohwedohwe
Eventually,all in the family of Kwaku Anase would be placed in the
Theme Park.
PHASE
THREE (3)
This phase is the focus of the project. Every effort is directed
at the Theme Park.
In conjunction with Parks and Gardens, the Theme Park will be where
the winning painting and sculptures of Ananse and family will be
placed and handed to the state. The park will be manned collaboratively
with the Ananse Project, the Department of Parks and Gardens and
the National Commission on Culture as a recreational and National
Park.
It
will consist of :
(a)
Children’s studio where cartoons produced on Ananse and
Family as well as other folklore Characters, and other children’s
programmes could be enjoyed.
(b) A drama studio where both professionals and amateurs alike
could perform Ananse stories to entertain visitors to the park.
(c) A library that will stock books on Ananse. It will also build
a database on Ghanaian folklore especially on Anansesem (storytelling)
in Ghana. It will also be available to students of the arts from
both Ghana and the diaspora.
Anyone wishing to display any work on the life and family of Ananse
should be allowed to do so. The Theme Park concept if possible
would be replicated in all 10 regional capitals.
